Animal Licensing

The Village of Worth requires all residents to license any cats or dogs. The main purpose of the license is to assist police in locating an animal's home if it escapes.

Every person who keeps a dog or cat over the age of four (4) months must pay an annual license fee. The license fee of $3.00 per animal is due on or before January 1st of each year. You will need to bring proof of valid inoculation for the current year.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION:
  • Your animal must be at least the age of four (4) months.
  • Must be inoculated by a licensed veterinarian with a valid inoculation certificate.
  • Pay a $3.00 per license fee.
  • The license tag must be worn on the animal's collar along with the inoculation tag.

No person shall be permitted to keep more than three (3) dogs or six (6) cats in a single family residence, or one (1) dog or two (2) cats in an apartment / condo unit within the Village of Worth.

Animals are not permitted to run at large.

Dogs are to be leashed or fenced and animal feces are to be collected by the owner.

If your animal escapes your yard and is picked up by the Police or Code Enforcement Officer, there may be a housing fee from the Animal Welfare League if your animal is taken there.

Stray or abused animals should be reported. The Code Enforcement Officer is available to help remove any "uninvited critters" such as skunks, raccoons, etc by renting a trap for capture.
