NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH ALERT

The Worth Police Department has received
an increased number of thefts from
motor vehicle calls in our village.

In addition, we have also received reports of theft from garages, sometimes in the same area or even on the same residence.

The thefts have been occurring in the late evening to early morning hours.

By and large most all the motor vehicles and garages were left unlocked. Where forced entry was made, usually something of value was left in plain view.

Items taken during the thefts have included but are not limited to GPS units, MP3 players, wallets, purses, credit cards and miscellaneous cash and change.

The Worth Police Department requests that you:
1) Lock your cars, homes, sheds and garages.
2) Not leave valuable items like GPS units in vehicles, especially not in plain view.
3) Preferable park somewhere well lit and turn outside lights on.

Look at your property and see what can be improved for crime prevention. Trim large bushes, as they can be excellent hiding places. Install motion lights, alarms, and video surveillance if possible. Barking dogs are an excellent deterrent.

Residents are urged to report any suspicious persons, especially those who may be walking down residential streets / driveways in the overnight hours and looking into car windows and trying door handles.

Suspicious vehicles should also be reported. Watch for and report vehicles that seem to be circling the same area. Watch for vehicles that maybe picking up or dropping off passengers that do not live in the immediate area.

Report suspicious persons and autos to 911.
