Worth Restaurant Teen Night
The Worth Restaurant bravely opened its doors to worth area teens for a night of games , fries and fun. Sponsored by the Worth library youth services department , the restaurant hopes to offer a fun, safe location for teens in town as part of a partnership program with the Economic Development Commission. Lieutenant Mark Micetich has been promoted to Deputy Chief of the Worth Police Department

Lieutenant Mark Micetich was hired in 1992 and has been with the Worth Police Department for over 19 years. Mark began his law enforcement career at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park Illinois in 1988 until 1992. While at Little Company of Mary in was hired by the Hometown Police Department in 1988 and worked there until 1992 when he was hired by the Worth Police Department.

He completed basic training at th_ Chicago Police Academy in l99Z and upon graduation was assigned to the patrol division. Mark was assigned to the patrol division for 10 years until his reassignment and promoted to detective in March of 2002.

As a detective he was also assigned to the South Suburban Major Crimes Task force and the South Suburban Major Case Unit.

Mark was promoted to Sergeant in January of 2004 and reassigned to the patrol division where he supervised a patrol shift. In December of 2006 Mark was promoted to Lieutenant and oversaw patrol operations.

Mark was then appointed Acting Chief of Operations in November of 2010. During the past year Mark has assisted in reorganization within the police department.

Lt. Micetich is dedicated law enforcement professional evident in his progression up the ranks in the police department. Mark has received numerous awards and commendations through out his career.

New Police Chief
Lt. Martin Knolmayer was promoted to
Police Chief at the Village Board Meeting
held on November 15th, 2011


Lt. Martin Knolmayer has been with the Worth Police Department for over 25 years. He was hired in 1986 and was assigned to the Patrol Division. While in the Patrol Division he was given the responsibility of the Traffic Unit and handled Major Accident Investigations among his other duties. He served 10 years in the Patrol Division when he was reassigned to the Investigations Division in 1996. While assigned to Investigations he worked with other local, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

Lt. Knolmayer was also assigned the South Suburban Cook County Major Crimes Task Force for 11 years. White with the Task Force he served as an investigator, Squad Leader, Team Supervisor, and Case Manager. During his time in Investigations, he was promoted to Sergeant in November of 2000 and to Lieutenant in December of 2006. Lt. Knolmayer is a 2006 graduate of Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command.

Lt. Knolmayer spent 15 years assigned to and in-charge of the Investigations Division. For the past 2 years, Lt. Knolmayer has been in charge of Police Department Operations and most recently Administration of the Police Department. During his career, Lt. Knolmayer has received several commendations and awards.

Holiday Show

Fairplay Foods held a Holiday Show
on Friday November 11th, 2011.

The show featured great ideas and demo's throughout the store to give your holiday season an easy and fabulous look. A Wine Tasting and Cheese Sampling was also held. Attendees won Blackhawk Tickets and a Weber Gas Grill. In the photo to the right is Store Manager John and his Deli Manager.

2011 Haunts Against Hunger
The 2011 Haunts Against Hunger was a horrifying success. Additional to food collected at the event, another 13 boxes of food was collected by Worthwoods School. A special thanks to Clerk Bonnie Price and Trustees Colleen McElroy and Rich Dziedzic for their help in putting this together. The Food Pantry is open to needy families on Tuesdays from 9am - 11am & 4pm - 6pm.

The United Methodist Church Food Pantry
is in Need of Help for Thanksgiving!
If you would like to help the UMC of Worth Food Pantry for Thanksgiving -- they need side dishes....stuffing, mashed potatoes, jellos, sweet potato, cranberry, gravy, cake mixes and frostings.... And for Christmas, personal care items.... shampoo, conditioner, soap, shavers, shaving cream, deodorant, tampons, pads, toothbrushes, toothpaste, diapers, wipes,baby shampoos/soaps...

You can contact Kate Morgan at 708-448-6682 to schedule a delivery or pick-up of your food donations. Monetary donations are also welcome. Your support is greatly appreciated this holiday season. Currently, the pantry is serving 100+ families each week, a number that is sure to rise as winter approaches. The food pantry is located in the basement of the UMC-Worth at 112th and Depot.

O'Reilly Auto Parts

District Manager Miguel Agaton, photographed to the left, invited Mayor Randy Keller and Clerk Bonnie Price to the first day of business of the new O'Reilly's Auto Parts store located at 6710 W. 111th Street. Mayor Keller and Clerk Price warmly welcomed the representatives of O'Reilly Auto Parts to our community with wishes and hopes for a long and successful stay in our friendly village. District Manager Agaton advised that it's with great enthusiasm that they planed their store in Worth, and that they plan on being an active participant in the community and local events. You’re welcomed to stop in and see this wonderful addition to our community for yourself. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be planned and announced soon.

The Commissioner presented us with a resolution indicating the County's support for the Village's opposition to the Army Corps use of the Lucas Berg Nature Preserve for a hazardous canal-dredgings dump.

Thank you Commissioner Murphy for sponsoring this resolution!

The resolution was adopted by the Cook County Board in August and will send another strong message to those who hold Lucas Berg's fate in their hands. The message is NO TOXIC DREDGINGS, AND NOT IN OUR TOWN!


The Worth Library Grand Re-Opening

Held on Sunday October 17th, 2010. The renovations include adding WiFi access throughout the building, moving and improving the children’s and young adults sections, and installing a Giving Tree so patrons can remember anyone they choose to honor. Refreshments were served and Mayor Keller attended the event. For more photos, click the photo to the left.
