Re: Community Alert

October 11, 2007

On October 10, 2007 at approximately 4:40pm a youth was allegedly in the path of traffic in the area of the 6900 block of 111th Street. As a result a motorist concerned for the safety fo this youth transported him to the care of the Worth Police. The Worth Police Department immediately contacted the family of the 11-year-old youth.

The motorist involved in this indicent age 19 of Oak Lawn is cooperating with this agency and feels he was acting on behalf of this youth, as he was concerned for his safety. As a result of this action the Worth Junior High is sending home a letter with the students explaining the need for safety when crossing the roadway. In addition students should be reminded not to talk to strangers and never accept a ride.

I assure you this matter is still under investigation by our Detective Division as charges are being considered for this action. There is no need for concern as we positively identified the individual involved in this incident. We understand he made a very poor judgement call when deciding to transport this youth to our police facility.

This Community Alert was made availabe to address any concern you may have regarding this matter of mutual interest.

The Worth Police Department will address issues dealing with Dtranger Danger with the Worth School District 127.
